SOURCES: Star Arsenal Midfielder Offered to Multiple Saudi Clubs

Over the last few years, Saudi Arabian clubs have entered the transfer market with decisiveness by securing huge-name players by offering mega money deals.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, and Karim Benzema are just the names of a few who have made the switch in recent history. According to reports, clubs such as Al Nassr and Al Hilal will be handed “war chests” to use within the market this summer.

And now one key Arsenal midfielder appears to be subject to interest from clubs in the Arabian Peninsula, with their entourage offering the player to potential suitors.

Arsenal Midfielder Martin Odegaard Offered to Saudi Pro League Clubs

Arsenal midfielder and captain Martin Odegaard has been offered to multiple Saudi Pro League clubs, according to Attacking Football’s sources. Representatives of the Norwegian player have reportedly been putting out feelers in the Middle East, with current Asian Champions League holders Al Ahli emerging as the main subject of interest.

At the moment, nothing has moved past the initial gauging of interest on the side of the Gunners captain, and it is unclear if a move will materialise; however, sources in Saudi remain optimistic a deal could be struck for the former Real Madrid man.

Al Ahli have been aggressive in the market before, securing the signings of Roberto Firmino, Riyad Mahrez, Edouard Mendy, and Ivan Toney over the last few years. The Jeddah-based club will be hoping to strengthen and continue their success off the back of their recent Champions League victory.

While clubs such as Al Nassr and Al Hilal have reportedly been given large budgets by the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF), Al Ahli, who are also under the ownership of the group, could also be handed huge sums to make such a deal happen. We have already seen the power of the investment group, who even had the window opened early in order to sign a player on a one-game loan for the recent Club World Cup.

Understandably, Arsenal do not wish to lose their captain, and it would likely take a mega-money bid to tempt the club into letting go of Odegaard. He has been a key figure across the resurgence of the North London club under Mikel Arteta, and the idea of letting such a pivotal player go seems far-fetched.

The Premier League side are hoping to finally break their duck on two of football’s biggest honours, the League title and the Champions League trophy, and having their captain around could be vital to their goals.

For now, the situation remains as one to keep an eye on. While Saudi clubs have previously flexed their financial muscle by spending big and offering massive contracts, until anything more concrete develops, Gunners fans can rest a little easy.
