Chelsea Expected To Sign Aaron Anselmino After Granting Boca Juniors Request

Chelsea are now closing in on a deal for Boca Juniors defender Aaron Anselmino, after agreeing to allow the club to keep the player on loan until January. Boca asked to keep the player for at least another six months during discussions with Chelsea, and it was the final hurdle in the deal before an agreement could be reached, with the clubs expected to finalise the talks in the coming days.

The player, who was wanted by Manchester United, is now expected to travel for a medical in the coming weeks once the deal is fully agreed. The final fee is anticipated to be in the region of £14m, with Anselmino not expected to join Strasbourg, as has been the case with several of the youngsters that have been signed by the Clearlake Group for Chelsea in recent months.

Chelsea Set to sign Anselmino

Discussions between the two clubs have been ongoing, with the belief now being that Chelsea’s breakthrough has come from granting Boca the chance to keep Anselmino until January at the very least. The Argentine side were adamant in negotiations that they wanted to keep the player as opposed to letting him leave the club straight away once a deal was agreed.

It’s another example of Chelsea’s focus on signing youth from the South American market, with Brazilian wonderkid Estevao already being signed by the club in recent months. Andrey Santos and Kendry Paez are also examples of young talents from the region that the club has signed.

The player is expected to sign for Chelsea until June 2030. Anselmino is currently away on holidays and will travel to London as soon as the green light is given between the two clubs. The player will be Chelsea’s fourth signing of the summer so far, after Tosin Adarabioyo on a free, Marc Guiu for £6m and Kieran Dewsbury-Hall for £30m.
