SOURCES: Real Sociedad Standing Firm On Martin Zubimendi Amid Arsenal Interest

Martin Zubimendi is someone Arsenal admires hugely, but they will face a battle to sign the player this summer, with the club unwilling to do any business for a fee below his £50m price tag. Sociedad wants the player to remain at the club beyond this summer, and has no plans to do any business in the coming months to change that.

The player is currently on EURO 2024 duty with Spain, with his country set to face Germany in the quarterfinal of the tournament on Friday. Zubimendi has previously admitted he’s not likely to leave the club this summer himself, and the club are mirroring that stance, as they feel the player is not for sale within this window.

Zubimendi Expected To Stay:

Arsenal, of course, could trigger the player’s release clause, but if they want to do business for below that fee, they’re unlikely to get anywhere with the Spanish side. The Gunner’s are preparing to replace Thomas Partey, who has been linked with a move away in recent months after an underwhelming season, plagued by injuries.

Zubimendi is someone admired internally at Arsenal, but there are no current signs that they are going to press ahead with an offer. If they do, as previously mentioned, Zubimendi’s release clause will need to be triggered to have any chance of doing successful business.

Manchester United have had the player on a list previously, but the feeling now is that the Red’s are closing in on a deal for Manuel Ugarte from PSG. As of right now, there is a belief the Spaniard will remain at Sociedad until at least next season.
