SOURCES: PSG Are Still Not Actively Pursuing A Move For Marcus Rashford

More reports are circulating today regarding Manchester United winger Marcus Rashford and a potential move to PSG in the summer, as they look to replace Kylian Mbappe, who’s set to move to Real Madrid. The French club has well documented previous interest in his signature, but that dates back to when he was tipped to be available on a free transfer. Times have changed since then, and the 26-year-old confirmed his intentions to remain at United last month in an interview with the Player’s Tribune.

“I can take any criticism. I can take any headline. From podcasts, social media and the papers. I can take it. But if you start questioning my commitment to this club and my love for football and bringing my family into it, then I’d simply ask you to have a bit more humanity.”

PSG have been linked with a number of left wingers in the last number of months, with Rashford’s name commonly coming up in reports when speaking about possible replacements. Liverpool winger Luis Diaz has also been linked in recent days, with the reported fee around £100m for the Columbian, who has been in fine form for Jurgen Klopp’s title chasers this season.

PSG Not Actively Pursuing Rashford:

We understand that PSG are not actively pursuing a deal for Marcus Rashford. We reported previously that the French club were not set to make any new moves for the United man, and our information since then has remained the same. Rashford has been a name spoken about in the club before, and there has always been admiration, but there are no active moves, and that is not currently expected to change in the summer.

Rashford is expected to be one of the pillars of the new project currently being built by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS behind the scenes. The academy graduate has started to come back into some sort of form after a rocky few months, scoring a goal in the Manchester Derby and backing that up with a smartly taken penalty against Everton in the last match.

PSG will lose Kylian Mbappe in the summer when he joins Real Madrid, and they have yet to make it clear who they will look to replace the Frenchman. Mbappe has been at the club since 2017, scoring 246 goals in 295 games. The 25-year-old was pivotal in his side’s progression through to the quarterfinals of the Champions League, scoring three goals in two games.

He is expected to be in the squad to face Liverpool on Sunday, where he and his side will be aiming to get back to the FA Cup semi-final for the first time since 2020 under Ole Gunnar Solskajer. Rashford won the competition in 2015 in his first season with the first team, with Jesse Lingard scoring the winner in stoppage time against Crystal Palace.

Rashford’s goal tally this season is significantly less than at this stage last season, but he has been part of some important performances for the club despite not having his best campaign. Rasmus Hojlund’s reported return at the weekend will be a boost, as the 7 goal winger will be able to return to his preferred left-wing position, with Alejandro Garnacho likely starting on the right-wing.

United will also be boosted by the return of Harry Maguire, who has missed the last three games through injury, and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has not featured for the club since the 14th of January against Tottenham Hotspur. The game, however, has come too soon for Lisandro Martinez and Mason Mount, who will likely be available for selection after the international break when United face Brentford away from home.
