EXCLUSIVE: Manchester United Make Contact For Monaco Midfielder Youssouf Fofana

Manchester United are looking to add some strength to their midfield options this summer, and they may just have identified a solution to all their issues in the form of Monaco defensive midfielder Youssouf Fofana. The 25-year-old Frenchman is out of contract with the Ligue 1 side next season and has been linked with a move to the Red Devils since the summer transfer window last season.

He has yet to commit to a new deal at Monaco, and they may have no choice but to sell him this summer if a suitable offer comes in. Failure to do so could result in the club losing Fofana on a free transfer next summer, which is certainly something they’ll want to avoid.

Manchester United Eye Fofana:

We understand Manchester United are interested in Youssouf Fofana from Monaco and have already made contact to express that interest. He would cost United around £25 million this summer, which is well within the rumoured price range INEOS are said to be looking to shop in.

Fofana is said to be open to a move to Manchester United, and has admiration for the club due to it’s legendary status in football. The 25-year-old is one of the names on the midfield list this summer, as the Red’s look to revamp the structure of the current first-team squad.

He has played 34 games for the Rogues et Blancs this season, scoring four goals and delivering four assists. His best position is as a defensive midfielder, which United are looking to strengthen with the rumoured departure of Casemiro this summer and the loan deal of Sofyan Amrabat not set to be renewed.

There is also rumoured interest from Arsenal in the midfielder, but United have definitely made their interest apparent in a concrete manner, and the situation is one to watch in the coming months as the summer window draws closer.
