EXCLUSIVE: Manchester United Scouts Hoping to Watch Roony Bardghji Against Manchester City

Manchester United scouts will be hoping to watch Roony Bardghji in Champions League action when F.C. Copenhagen travel to the Etihad later on Wednesday night, according to our source.

The highly rated youngster has been on the Red Devil’s radar for quite some time, with scouts watching him on numerous occassions across the season so far. However, the Swede has found game time few and far between as of late. The 18-year-old has only had 45 minutes of football since December 12, 2023. Reports from the ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano indicated that his lack of playing time was over a refusal to sign a new long-term contract.

“[The] reason is that Bardghji has no intention to sign a new long-term deal—from the summer, he will only have 18 months left on his contract, with several top clubs monitoring him.”

With the huge European fixture looming in England, Bardghji was given a full half of football, potentially with the Danish side eyeing up a shock win against the reigning Champions League holders. The right-sided attacker is their top scorer in all competitions, with 11 goals so far this season, and they may pull back on their “punishment” to give themselves the best chance of advancing.

Additionally, an injury to Emil Højlund, the brother of United striker Rasmus Højlund, could also pave the way for a return to the starting line-up for Bardghji. The extent of Emil Højlund’s injury will be assessed prior to kick-off at the Etihad.

Furthermore, Viktor Claesson sustained an injury in Copenhagen’s weekend game against FC Midtjylland, forcing him to be subbed off after 29 minutes. However, Jordan Larsson was preferred off the bench in this case.

Those within Manchester United’s scouting and transfer departments will be hoping his return to the pitch, after being an unused sub in four of their last five fixtures, as well as a string of injuries to other Copenhagen players, is a sign that he will make an appearance against their city rivals.

Roony Bardghji was instrumental when Manchester United travelled to the Danish capital back in November. The young prospect scored the winning goal in an enthralling 4-3 win for Byens Hold (The Team of the City).

However, securing a deal for the Copenhagen winger could prove tough, as Aston Villa, FC Barcelona, and Manchester City have also been keeping tabs on him.
