Manchester United Are Following RB Leipzig Striker Benjamin Sesko

Manchester United are following Benjamin Sesko, as they plot a move for a striker to take the burden off Rasmus Hojlund this summer. The Slovenian striker is someone United have tracked for a long time, dating back to before he moved to Leizpig, and they have not lost interest in his services.

Sesko has a release clause valid this summer of £43million, which is a fair price range for any club interested in signing him. United will either go for a young profile or an older Edinson Cavani type signing to help Hojlund carry the burden, but they do see the Danish striker as the man to carry the club forward in the next decade regardless of who they sign.

Sesko On United Radar:

The news comes from the reliable Muppetiers, who have stated that Sesko is one of the players United are currently tracking. The 20-year-old hasn’t heights he did in the Austrian Bundesliga yet this season, scoring just seven times in 23 appearances for Leipzig in the league. He did net twice in the Champions League, as the German team were knocked out of the competition against Real Madrid.

United have been without a back-up for Rasmus Hojlund for much of the campaign, with Anthony Martial struggling for fitness. Marcus Rashford has struggled when filling in for Hojlund in the centre-forward role, and United are intent on ending their woes in that position when the summer window opens.

Negotiations may not be fronted by Dan Ashworth, as United continue to try and break down the wall between them and Newcastle United to end his gardening leave. The Reds are unwilling to pay £20million, and the clubs remains at a stalemate. Omar Berrada, the new CEO, is currently expected to take charge of the negotiations for any summer signings.

Sesko will be a name United are likely to pursue, but he will not be the only summer signing if they do land him. A left-back will be signed, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, and a centre-back also remains a huge target, with Jarrad Branthwaite currently favourite.
