Manchester United Reportedly in Pole Position to Sign Neymar from PSG

Reports emerging from L’Equipe this evening say that Manchester United and PSG are currently in talks over a move that would see Neymar jumping to England’s top division. The French publication reveals that PSG intends to prioritise Kylian Mbappe as the focal point of their sporting project.

This information has caused dissatisfaction for the Brazilian. PSG had previously invested a record-breaking £200 million to secure his signature from Barcelona in 2017.

“Several Premier League clubs have entered into talks with PSG relating to Neymar, and the most advanced at this stage are with Manchester United.”

Multiple Premier League sides are negotiating with the Parisians. However, it seems United is the most advanced at this moment in time. Although conflicting reports from ESPN’s Mark Ogden suggest, these are nothing more than rumours.

Interestingly, if a move is to be completed, the Red Devils would prefer a loan move for the 31-year-old. However, the Ligue 1 champions would prefer to see Neymar go in a permanent move.

PSG’s sporting director Luis Campos is expected to meet with the player’s entourage. L’Equipe says that his national teammate Casemiro is actively encouraging him to switch to Old Trafford this summer.

Erik ten Hag is not the only man after the Brazilian’s signature, with Chelsea reportedly in for Neymar as well. However, their lack of European football may be an issue in pursuing the former Barcelona player. United are one point from guaranteeing a Champions League return to Old Trafford next season. A feat they can earn on Thursday night when they face Chelsea.

Manchester United fans expect the club to undergo another overhaul at Old Trafford this summer. The fans of the red side of the city will be optimistic that the acquisition of a player of Neymar’s caliber would mark the start of an eventful summer for Erik Ten Hag and his team.

Despite all the internal issues at the Parc des Princes, Neymar is enjoying a good season individually. He has 18 goals and 17 assists in 29 games for Paris Saint-Germain this season, along with two goals and an assist for Brazil in three games at the World Cup before they exited the tournament in the quarter-finals.

The arrival of Neymar Jr would be a significant coup, not just for Manchester United, but for the league itself.
