Attacking Football has learned that Southampton has given the green light to Liverpool’s £45 million offer for midfielder Romeo Lavia.
Our sources indicate that the talented Belgian midfielder is expected to sign a five-year contract with the possibility of extending it for an additional season.
The comprehensive package of £45 million comprises a base fee of £42.5 million, with an additional £2.5 million in potential add-ons, which was previously reported.
Liverpool had been keeping a keen eye on the 19-year-old prospect throughout the summer. However, with the departure of Jordan Henderson and the potential exit of Fabinho, the club made the decision to actively pursue the young midfielder.

As a former Manchester City prospect, his performances throughout the season received widespread acclaim, particularly his standout display against Arsenal at the Emirates.
While there was a buyback clause in his contract that Pep Guardiola’s side could have activated in 2024, Liverpool’s signing of the player will put an end to that possibility.
However, the Premier League champions are set to receive 20% due to a sell-on clause.
The reported fee for the buyback clause was around £40 million, which aligns with the price tag the south coast club had been asking for.
